3. Camera Calibration
1. Preparation
To provide sufficient nozzle movement clearance for the following advanced bottom camera calibration process, please check the Bottom Camera Platform mounting distance before proceeding. If it does not meet the requirements, please adjust the installation distance first.
2. Units Per Pixel
Use the bottom side of the 2nd_Calib board PCB to set the Units Per Pixel value of Top camera and Bottom camera.
3. Units Per Pixel For Top Camera
Mount the 2nd_Calib board PCB on the PCB holder like the picture below.
Using the buttons on the Jog tab to move the top camera over the center of the 2nd_Calib board, fine-tune the position so that the crosshairs of the TopCam view are roughly aligned with the crosshairs of the 2nd_Calib board.
Set the Units Per Pixel in the General Configuration page of TopCam as follows.
- Fill in the Object Dimensions value of X Y.
-
Click the Measure button, an adjustable rectangular dashed box will appear in the camera view.
-
Move and adjust the position and size of the rectangular box so that the XY direction edges are aligned with the rectangular box on the 2nd_Calib board in the view with the same size as the Object Dimensions value. Use the mouse wheel to zoom the camera view.
- Click the Measure button again, and then the Units Per Pixel value will be calculated and updated automatically.
- Click the Apply button to save and apply the settings.
Now the primary calibration of Top Camera is completed.
The coordinates of Top Camera will be used as the basic coordinates of the machine, try to make sure that Top Camera has a stable installation, otherwise it needs to be re-calibrated.
4. Units Per Pixel For Bottom Camera
Manually turn on the backlight of Bottom Camera.
Place the 2nd_Calib board directly above the Bottom Camera, manually adjust the position and orientation so that the crosshairs of the BottomCam view are roughly aligned with the crosshairs of the 2nd_Calib board.
Note
Because of the design update, the new BCAM module reduces the lens distance, which will result in a smaller field of view than before, but allows for better recognition of parts such as 0402 and IC. Accordingly, the visual piping for nozzle tip calibration may also need to be modified (minDiameter/maxDiameter).
Set the Units Per Pixel in the General Configuration page of BottomCam as follows.
-
Click the Measure button, an adjustable rectangular dashed box will appear in the camera view.
-
Move and adjust the position and size of the rectangular box so that the XY direction edges are aligned with the rectangular box on the 2nd_Calib board in the view with the same size as the Object Dimensions value. Use the mouse wheel to zoom the camera view.
-
Click the Measure button again, and then the Units Per Pixel value will be calculated and updated automatically.
-
Click the Apply button to save and apply the settings.
Manually turn off the backlight of Bottom Camera.
Now the Units Per Pixel of Bottom Camera is completed.
The Bottom Camera position setting needs to be completed in a subsequent step.
