1. Assembling The Frame

Overview

The machine frame consists of 16 aluminum profiles with pre-machined holes and fixed by M5 BHSHCS screws.

Required Parts And Accessories

  • Aluminum profiles *16
    • (Among the 17 profiles, one of length 422mm X-rail support was excluded)
  • BHSHCS M5X25 *24

Assembly

1. Left and Right Frame

The left and right parts are mirror of each other, pay attention to the direction of the countersunk holes of aluminum profiles. Frame Left

Left side uses 2 Vertical profiles and 2 Y-direction profiles:

Front and back vertical profiles

The latest improvements added a hole on the front profiles for mounting the Y belt pulleys so the front and back vertical profiles may look very similar. Please consider the profiles to be placed in the back of the machine have a larger top hole needed for the Y motor rod.

Right side uses 2 Vertical profiles and 2 Y-direction profiles:

2. X-Direction Frame

Take note the frame profiles that have 4 holes (2 per side) are to be mounted in the TOP position and the profiles with only 2 holes (one per side) are to be mounted in the BOTTOM position.

TOP and BOTTOM in the back of the frame: The TOP and BOTTOM profiles are identical for the front and the back of the machine.

3. Feeder Mounting Frame

The rails for mounting feeders are Y-direction profiles, same as the ones used on the left and right frame assemblies.

Note

Due to the design update introduced by the BambooFeeder AS2, please use the mounting holes on the outer/far side, closer to the vertical frame profiles.

4. Y-Direction Holder Frame

Us the 2 profiles with a single pre-drilled hole close to the end named Y-direction holder:

5. Profile Pads

Use pads to protect profile ends (EVA Pad 2020-4 *12). These can be felt like in the pictures below or plastic.

6. (Optional) Foot Pads

Applying rubber pads to the bottom of the 3D printed feet will keep the machine stable on any smooth table.
